The 97-metre tower at the heart of Groningen, locally called d'Olle Grieze ("the Old Grey"). It belongs to the 13th-century Martinikerk but was built higher than the church would require, out of civic pride. Climb the 260 steps for a view across the flat polders to the Wadden Sea.
