Oude RKZ is a former Roman Catholic hospital that became one of the Netherlands' best-known squats before being legalised in the 1980s. Today it is still an alternative cultural hub, with an art-house cinema, bars, folk-kitchen meals, and a lived-in creative edge that feels very different from Groningen's polished centre.
