Draaiorgel Museum

A small museum dedicated to the Dutch street organ — the ornately decorated barrel organs that have been a fixture of Dutch street life since the 19th century. The collection includes instruments from tiny table-top models to full-sized fairground organs, many in working condition and played during visits.

The street organ is a distinctly Dutch cultural tradition — other countries had them, but nowhere were they as large, as elaborately decorated, or as deeply embedded in daily life as in the Netherlands. The museum explains how they work (perforated cardboard books rather than cylinders), how they were built, and why they matter. Live demonstrations bring the instruments thundering to life. On the Kleverparkweg, about 15 minutes' walk from the centre of Haarlem. Small, personal, and unlike anything else.
