Things to Do in Haarlem

Haarlem concentrates a remarkable amount into a compact historic centre. The Grote Kerk (St. Bavo) dominates the Grote Markt with its organ and Golden Age monuments. The Teylers Museum is the oldest in the Netherlands, the Frans Hals Museum is one of the finest Golden Age collections outside Amsterdam, and the Corrie ten Boom House is one of the most moving small museums in the country. Beyond the monuments, the city rewards wandering: Haarlem has more hofjes (hidden courtyard almshouses) than anywhere in the Netherlands.
