The home ground of SC Cambuur, Leeuwarden's professional football club, which spends most years in the top two tiers of Dutch football. Cambuur is the only major sporting tenant in the city and the rivalry with neighbouring SC Heerenveen is one of the most fiercely contested in Friesland.
The current stadium dates from 1936 with various rebuilds since; a new stadium is under construction. Match days bring most of the city out — yellow-and-blue shirts in every café, songs in Frisian, and a noisy walk to the ground.
