Het Nieuwe Instituut

National museum of architecture, design and digital culture

The Nieuwe Instituut occupies a 1990s Jo Coenen building in the Museumpark and is the national museum of architecture, design and (since a recent expansion) digital culture. The exhibitions are uneven — sometimes the most interesting thing on a given week is in the small ground-floor case rather than the headline show — but the institution as a whole is one of the best places anywhere to think seriously about architecture.

The library, archive (with the original drawings of major Dutch architects from Berlage to Koolhaas), and reading room are open to the public.
