The beach is the only reason most people come to Zandvoort, and on a hot summer day it is reason enough — eight kilometres of fine sand backed by dunes, with the pavilions, kiosks, and bar-restaurants of the boulevard for company. The old village is small but worth a quick wander for the Hervormde Kerk and the brick Watertoren that doubles as Zandvoort's most visible landmark.
Beyond that, the two big draws are the Circuit Zandvoort north of town — home of the Dutch Grand Prix since 2021 — and the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park, which begins immediately behind the dunes and runs north all the way to the IJmuiden canal. The latter is the most rewarding day out: you can walk or cycle for hours in dune heath and woodland and almost forget that Amsterdam is twenty kilometres away.
