Getting There

Kristiansand has a small international airport at Kjevik, twenty minutes north-east of the city, with regular flights to Oslo and Copenhagen and seasonal connections to Amsterdam and other European cities. The Sørlandsbanen train from Oslo takes about four and a half hours; intercity buses are the cheapest option and run frequently along the E18.

The town is also a major ferry port, with daily crossings to Hirtshals in northern Denmark — a four-hour trip that brings many continental visitors directly into the city centre. The ferry terminal is a short walk from the central square.
