The Markens gate axis through the Kvadraturen has most of the city's cafes and bars, with terraces that fill on warm days. Nightlife is concentrated around Markens and the harbour; Kristiansand is a town of students and naval personnel, and the weekend hours run later than you might expect for a place of this size.
