By train: Tønsberg Station is on the Vestfold Line, which connects Oslo S (Oslo Central) to Skien in the south. Direct trains from Oslo run frequently throughout the day and take around 90 minutes. This is the most convenient way to arrive.
By car: From Oslo, take the E18 southward toward Larvik and Sandefjord. Tønsberg is well signposted and the drive takes about 90 minutes in normal traffic. Parking is available in several car parks near the town centre and waterfront.
By bus: Regional buses connect Tønsberg to surrounding towns including Sandefjord, Horten, and Larvik. The bus station is close to the train station.
By air: The nearest commercial airports are Sandefjord Airport Torp (about 30 km south), which serves budget carriers including Ryanair, and Oslo Gardermoen (about 120 km north). From Torp, trains connect via Sandefjord to Tønsberg. Tønsberg Airport Jarlsberg is a small general aviation field about 5 km west of the centre and does not serve scheduled passenger flights.
