Voss Gondol

The Voss Gondol is the quickest way out of town and into the high country. Each cabin holds ten people, the ride takes seven minutes, and it climbs more than 700 metres to the top of Hangurs, where a glass-walled restaurant overlooks the lake and a network of marked summer trails fans out across the plateau.

In winter it is also the lift access for Voss Resort's ski area, with red and black runs back down to town. In summer the gondola is the start of one of the better day hikes in the region — over Hangurshøgdi and down to Bavallen — and the launch point for many of the local paragliding flights. Cabins run year-round, weather permitting; check the wind forecast before heading up.

A story
The gondola opened in 2019, replacing the old Hangursbanen cable car that had run since 1963. The station is built directly above the Voss railway platform — you can step off the Bergen Line train, walk a hundred metres, and be in a cabin climbing to the top of Hangurs within ten minutes.
