Voss Resort, on the Hangurs side of the gondola, is the larger of the two ski areas above town. It has 19 marked runs across roughly 40 km of piste, with the top lift at 945 metres. The terrain is not enormous by Alpine standards, but it is varied — easy blues for families, a few genuine blacks off the back, and a respectable park for freestylers. Lift tickets are noticeably cheaper than in the Alps.
The season runs from early December to mid-April, with reliable snow above the mid-station from January. A separate ski area at Myrkdalen, half an hour up the valley, offers more skiable vertical and is included in some joint passes. Equipment hire and ski school both operate from the bottom of the gondola in the centre of town.
