Sierakowski Manor House

Just off Monte Cassino Street, tucked behind the modern resort buildings, stands the Sierakowski Manor House — a modest 18th-century wooden building that is one of the oldest structures still standing in Sopot. This makes it something of a rarity in a city whose built environment is almost entirely 19th and 20th century.

The manor is home to the Society of the Friends of Sopot, and it occasionally hosts exhibitions and events related to local history. The exterior is attractive in the understated way of Polish manor houses — whitewashed timber, pitched roof, a courtyard garden — and it provides a useful counterpoint to the grander resort architecture on the main street.

A story
The Sierakowski family built this house in the 18th century, making it one of the oldest surviving buildings in Sopot — unusual in a city whose history was largely erased and rebuilt after 1945. The manor has housed the Society of the Friends of Sopot since 1965, making it the institutional home of local civic identity.
