The Sopot Pier — Molo in Polish — stretches 511 metres out into the Gulf of Gdańsk, making it the longest wooden pier in Europe. Walking it is the quintessential Sopot experience: the Trójmiasto skyline behind you, the open Baltic ahead, fishing boats and pleasure craft bobbing alongside, and the sea wind making the whole thing feel quite exposed even on a warm day.
At the end of the pier is a small pavilion and, in season, a cafe. Cruise boats depart from the pier to Gdańsk and Hel Peninsula. The pier charges a modest admission fee — worth it for the walk, especially at dusk when the light on the water can be very fine. In summer it gets crowded; early morning or evening visits are more peaceful.
