Tricity Landscape Park

West and south of Sopot, the Tricity Landscape Park begins where the resort streets end: a protected forest of beech and oak covering the Kashubian hills, with hiking trails, viewpoints, and a surprising amount of wildness given the urban context. You can walk directly from Monte Cassino Street into the forest in about twenty minutes.

The park offers some of the best day-hiking in northern Poland. Trails are well-marked and range from easy family walks to more demanding ridge routes with views over the Trójmiasto and the Gulf of Gdańsk. The beech forest turns a vivid gold in October, making autumn the most spectacular season for walking here. Mountain bikes are also allowed on some trails.

A story
The Tricity Landscape Park was established in 1979 as one of Poland's first landscape parks — a category between a strict nature reserve and ordinary countryside, intended to protect the mixed beech-oak forests on the Kashubian hills while still allowing hiking and recreation. It covers 199 square kilometres, stretching from Gdynia in the north to the southern suburbs of Gdańsk.
