Warszawa Powiśle

Iconic Powiśle bar in a converted railway kiosk, with a terrace that defines Warsaw's summer drinking scene

Warszawa Powiśle occupies a low concrete railway kiosk that once served the now-disused Powiśle suburban station, right on the escarpment above the Vistula. The bar is small inside but expands onto a large terrace in summer — packed from late afternoon with people drinking craft beer and natural wine while watching the light change over the river and the Praga skyline.

It opened in 2010 and effectively launched Powiśle's transformation from a neglected riverside backwater into Warsaw's most sought-after neighbourhood. The kitchen turns out simple food — boards of cheese and charcuterie, pierogi, toasts — but the terrace is the reason to come. Come before 6pm on a summer weekend to find a seat.
