Almada's main draw is the Cristo Rei statue, but the old town centre above Cacilhas, the riverfront promenade, and the long Atlantic beaches at Costa da Caparica make the municipality worth a proper day rather than a quick look. The castle ruins, the panoramic elevator, and the frigate museum are all within easy walking distance of the Cacilhas ferry terminal.
