Santola

Santola is a seafront restaurant facing the beach, named after the spider crab that is one of its specialities. Fresh fish from the daily auction at Portimao — usually sea bream, sea bass, and red mullet — is the main draw, grilled simply over charcoal and served with boiled potatoes and salad.

The terrace gets the sunset; the indoor dining room is more formal. Book ahead in July and August.
