Fonte da Telha is a long, windswept stretch of Atlantic sand on the Costa da Caparica, about 25 km south of central Lisbon. The beach is less crowded than its neighbours closer to the Caparica town centre, attracting surfers and families who prefer a bit more space. A cluster of seafood restaurants sits at the base of the sandy cliffs — grilled fish and cold beer with an ocean view.
Getting here without a car takes some effort: cross the Tagus on the ferry to Cacilhas or drive over the Ponte 25 de Abril, then head south along the coast road. There is a small car park at the top of the cliff. In summer, the Transpraia mini-train runs along the coast from Caparica and stops nearby.
