Praia dos Três Castelos

Praia dos Três Castelos — the Beach of Three Castles — takes its name from a cluster of three eroded sandstone stacks rising from the sand at the eastern end. At low tide a series of arches and a tunnel open between the small connected coves, making it possible to walk between several of the bays along the beach itself.

The beach is dramatic, less developed than the main Praia da Rocha, and a favourite for photographs of the classic Algarve cliff geometry. Access is via a steep staircase from the clifftop. The single beach bar is the only food; come prepared if you are spending the day.
