Ponta Delgada's sights are compact enough to cover on a single afternoon's walk. The old quarter around Praça do Município holds the best of the architecture; the seafront fort and the ceremonial Portas da Cidade archways are the most photographed spots. The Carlos Machado Museum is the place to go for natural history and Azorean folk art.
