Botanical Park

The Botanical Park (Parcul Botanic) is a small but densely planted public garden in the north-western corner of the historic centre, a short walk from Union Square. It was established in 1986 by Timișoara's horticultural service as a teaching collection for the agricultural university; the public park around the teaching beds is open to all and free.

Despite the modest size, the park is one of the most floristically interesting green spaces in the city — winding paths through azaleas and rhododendrons, a small alpine garden, a rose collection, and a series of themed beds (medicinal plants, dye plants, native Banat flora). It is the quietest of the central parks and a good warm-weather lunch stop in the middle of a long walking tour.
