Timisoara is at its best from May through October. Spring and early summer are mild and the central parks are at their fullest; the Roses Festival in late May or early June is the prettiest single weekend. Autumn (September and October) is reliably dry, the temperatures pleasant for walking, and the cafe terraces stay open into late October.
July and August are the hottest months — daytime temperatures regularly above 32°C with sometimes oppressive humidity from the Bega. Winter is cold (often below freezing in January and February), and the city's parks and squares are subdued, though the Christmas markets in Union Square and Victory Square run from late November through early January. Timisoara was European Capital of Culture in 2023, and many of the cultural festivals from that year continue annually — the JazzTM festival in July and the Timisoara Film Festival in October are particularly worth timing around.
