Getting Around

Central Timisoara is small and walkable. Union Square, Liberty Square and Victory Square are connected and the entire central Cetate district can be crossed in 15 minutes. Most of the sights are within this radius.

For the wider city — Fabric east, Iosefin west, Banat Village Museum north — the tram network is the easy choice. Trams run frequently from 5am to midnight; tickets are sold from kiosks at major stops and on board (newer trams). Lines 5 and 9 cover the main east-west axis; tram 4 runs to the village museum. Bus 4E runs to the airport. A single ride is around 3 lei; a daily pass for around 10 lei is good value for visitors. The Bega river-tram, a small water-bus that connects the central pier to Iulius Mall, runs in the warmer months.
