Lloyd Restaurant

Lloyd Restaurant occupies the ground floor of the Lloyd Palace on Victory Square, with an arcaded terrace looking out over the long stretch toward the Orthodox Cathedral. It is the city's grand-cafe address — open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a long menu that runs from Banat traditional through Italian to the occasional French dish.

The terrace is the place to sit on summer evenings. Service is patient and the wine list reasonable. Prices are toward the upper end of the local market but still very fair by Western European standards. The kitchen does standard mains well but the strong recommendations are the soups and the desserts; the egg-and-cheese papanasi here is reliable.
