The Iron Bridge (Podul de Fier) crosses the Bega Canal between the Iosefin district and the centre, a single-span riveted-iron footbridge built in 1898 by the Klein engineering firm of Budapest. It was the first iron bridge in the city and was originally designed to carry horse-drawn trams; today it is restricted to pedestrians and cyclists.
The bridge is in heritage-listed condition with original lampposts and railings. It is a popular evening promenade point with views down the canal in both directions — east toward the centre and west toward the Decebalus Bridge. The Iron Bridge marks the boundary between Cetate and Iosefin and is a natural waypoint on the long walk along the Bega banks.
