Marasti Square (Piata Marasti) sits at the northern edge of the historic centre, just outside the line of the old Habsburg fortifications. It is a low-rise, traffic-bordered square on the boulevard ring that replaces the old city walls. The Politehnica University's main campus opens onto it from the eastern side.
The square is less of a destination than a waypoint between Cetate to the south and the Botanical Park to the west, but the long ground-floor cafes at the university side are popular with students and the small farmers' market in the central island runs most weekdays. The Bega Canal is a short walk south.
