Lozovik

Small Morava Valley town of farmland, river walks, fishing, and central Serbian home cooking.

Lozovik is a small town of about 6,000 people on the left bank of the Velika Morava river in central Serbia. The surrounding countryside is agricultural and peaceful, and the river offers fishing and walking along its banks. The local cuisine is typical of central Serbia — hearty grilled meats, fresh produce, and home-made rakija. It is an unassuming, quiet place best experienced as a stop on a journey through the Morava valley.

Eating Out

Lozovik eats the way rural Serbia eats: grilled meat (pljeskavica, ćevapi, roštilj), local bread, fresh salads, and homemade rakija. Kafanas (traditional Serbian cafe-bars) serve food throughout the day and into the evening. The quality of local produce — especially vegetables from kitchen gardens and pork from local farms — tends to be high even in small establishments.

There is no restaurant scene in the contemporary sense, and no need for one. Sit down at any kafana that looks busy, point at whatever is coming off the grill, and you will eat well.

Things to Do

Lozovik is a quiet agricultural town on the Velika Morava river, offering simple pleasures rather than major attractions: fishing on the river, walking the riverbanks, eating well at local konobas, and experiencing ordinary Serbian rural life. It works best as a stop on a drive through the Morava valley rather than a standalone destination.
