Day Trips

Levoča sits at the heart of the Spiš region, with several UNESCO and natural sites within easy reach.

Spiš Castle, 15 km east, is one of the largest castle ruins in Central Europe — a hilltop fortress whose silhouette dominates the surrounding plain. The castle and Levoča together form a single UNESCO World Heritage Site. The nearby village of Spišské Podhradie is worth a stop for the medieval chapter house and the cathedral at Spišská Kapitula.

The High Tatras are 40 km west via Poprad — Slovakia's alpine playground, with cable cars up to Lomnický štít and good hiking on well-marked trails. Slovak Paradise National Park (Slovenský raj) is 25 km south: a karst plateau full of gorges with built-in ladders and footbridges, a uniquely Slovak way to hike.
