Stari Grad, the "Old Castle", sits on a hill east of Kamnik and was already mentioned in the early 13th century. Little of the fortress is intact, but its position is superb: from here you can see the town, the trade-route valley, and the mountains that guarded Kamnik from the north.
Come for the walk and the view rather than for polished interpretation. It is a good counterpoint to Mali Grad, showing the defensive side of the medieval town from a higher, rougher perch.
