The Old Bridge (Stari most) crosses the Drava River between the Lent promenade and the Studenci district on the north bank. The current structure dates from the mid-20th century — earlier bridges on this crossing were destroyed or deteriorated — but it serves the same function as the river crossing that has existed here since the city's founding. The bridge is pedestrian and cycling only, which makes it a pleasant place to stop and look both up and down the river.
The view from the bridge back towards the old town is one of the better urban views in Maribor: the Lent riverside buildings in the foreground, the castle hill behind them, and church towers rising above the old quarter. Looking the other way, the Pohorje hills frame the southern horizon. The bridge is always in use — it is one of the main routes between the old town and the university campus on the north side.
