The Torre de Guzmán is the most prominent landmark in Conil's old town: a 14th-century watchtower standing at the edge of the historic centre, square and solid, built from the same pale stone as the old city walls that run alongside it. Much of the town's medieval wall circuit has been lost, but the tower survives in good condition and can be climbed for views over the town rooftops and down to the sea.
The tower is part of the chain of coastal watchtowers that dots the entire coast of Cádiz province. From the top you can see several of the others in both directions. The climb is short — only a few flights of steps — and the view is worth it, especially in the late afternoon light when the whitewashed old town below glows.
