Puerto Deportivo de Estepona

Attractive marina with restaurants, fish market, and sailing facilities

Estepona's marina is one of the better-designed on the Costa del Sol — relatively compact, with the quayside restaurants facing the moored yachts and the fish market at the far end providing a working counterpoint to the leisure boats. The fish market (lonja) sells the morning's catch from a small fleet that still operates out of Estepona, and the market building next door has fresh produce.

The restaurant strip around the marina is predictable in places — pizza, pasta, the usual tourist offering — but several spots specialise in the local catch, and espetos de sardinas (sardines grilled on beach cane skewers) are done well here. An evening walk around the marina basin, when the boats are lit and the light is off the water, is one of Estepona's most pleasant experiences. Fishing and diving trips depart from the marina in season.
