Things to Do

Estepona's old town is the best reason to linger beyond the beach. The streets are genuinely whitewashed rather than tourist-cleaned, and the town's investment in public art has produced over 50 murals across the facades of the old quarter — the result of an annual street art festival that has been running since 2012. The Orchidarium, a botanical garden dedicated to orchids, fills a striking glass building near the marina and has one of Spain's largest orchid collections. The old castle ruins on the hill above the town offer views over the rooftops and out to sea, and the small archaeology museum on Plaza de las Flores has Roman and Phoenician finds from the area. Golf is the dominant leisure activity in the surrounding hills — the area holds more than a dozen courses within easy reach.
