Granada's historic core is best explored on foot, though the hills are steep and the cobblestones uneven. The Albaicín in particular requires walking — no vehicles can navigate most of its lanes. The walk from the city centre to the Mirador de San Nicolás takes about 20–30 minutes uphill.
The city has a small bus network (Transportes Rober) that reaches most neighbourhoods. The C1 and C2 minibuses are particularly useful for tourists, serving the Albaicín and Sacromonte respectively. A single journey costs around €1.40.
Taxis are plentiful and not expensive by western European standards. For the Alhambra, many visitors walk up via the Cuesta de Gomérez from Plaza Nueva (about 20 minutes uphill) or take a taxi. There is also a tourist minibus service from Plaza Nueva to the Alhambra entrance.
Cycling is difficult in the hilly historic centre but workable in the newer parts of the city. Bike hire is available near the city centre.
