Getting Around

The village of Hecho itself is small enough to walk entirely in twenty minutes. The interesting question is how to reach the upper valley.

By car or bicycle, the road to the Selva de Oza continues north from the village for about 14 km. It is a good paved road as far as the forest car park, which is also the trailhead for most of the upper valley hikes.

On foot, the GR-11 long-distance trail passes through the valley. Day walkers can follow valley trails without needing to carry overnight kit; the Selva de Oza is about a 3–4 hour walk from the village one way.

The village of Siresa, with its Romanesque monastery, is about 3 km north along the valley road — an easy walk or short bike ride.
