The western Pyrenean valleys are compact enough that several major destinations are within an hour's drive of Hecho. Jaca to the south is the regional capital and has a Romanesque cathedral and a citadel worth visiting. The Valle de Ansó, immediately to the west, is another fine traditional valley with the village of Ansó at its head — arguably more photogenic than Hecho and equally traditional.
Ordesa National Park, a couple of hours east, is one of the great landscapes of the Spanish Pyrenees — steep canyon walls, waterfalls, and the Ordesa gorge. It requires an early start in high summer (cars are restricted at peak times), but it is a serious natural sight.
