Hecho's appeal is concentrated and genuine. The village itself is a slow walk through Pyrenean stone architecture — narrow alleys, carved lintels, and a church that has stood since the early medieval period. Outside the village, the valley opens up into serious mountain country: forests, rivers, and trails that connect to the GR-11 long-distance route running along the whole of the Spanish Pyrenees.
The sculpture symposium, running since the 1970s, has left the village and its surroundings with an unexpected collection of outdoor contemporary sculpture — the contrast with the medieval stone is part of the point.
