The flat seafront promenade running along the Platja de S'Arenal and continuing all the way west through the Playa de Palma is one of the better features of this stretch of coast. It is wide, well-maintained, and runs for the full seven kilometres from S'Arenal to Ca'n Pastilla without a hill or a road crossing. In the early morning and evenings, locals use it for running and cycling; during the day it is full of slow-moving holidaymakers.
The promenade is lined with palms, beach bars, and occasional sun terraces attached to hotels. Several sections have cycle hire stations, and the flat terrain makes it genuinely easy cycling even for people who do not normally cycle. The entire route gives a useful sense of the bay as a whole and the gradual transition from resort to suburb as you approach Ca'n Pastilla and the airport end.
