The waterfront strip in Puerto de Alcudia is dominated by restaurants that have adjusted their menus for northern European tourists — pizza, pasta, burgers. These are not without their merits when you want something quick after a day on the beach, but the better eating is in the old town of Alcudia and along the port itself.
The port restaurants do rice dishes well. Arroz a banda — rice cooked in fish stock, served with alioli — is the local standard and most places do a respectable version. Fresh fish is reliable; the catch comes from local boats and the choice changes daily. Eating on a waterfront terrace in the early evening, with the boats rocking gently in the harbour, is one of the better pleasures the resort offers. Prices are reasonable by Mallorcan standards; the mark-up for a sea view is smaller than you'd expect.
