Playa de Alcudia

Five miles of fine white sand, the longest beach in Mallorca

Playa de Alcudia is the main beach and one of the finest in Mallorca: a long, wide, flat sweep of very fine white sand that stretches south from the marina. The sand is the real thing — soft enough to sink into, the colour of cream, and fine enough that it stays between your toes long after you've left. The sea shelves gradually and stays shallow for a good distance out, making it particularly safe for young children.

The northern end, near the marina, has the densest concentration of sunbeds, pedalos, and beach bars. Walk twenty minutes south and it opens up; in the middle sections you can still find a spot without feeling like a sardine even in August. The water is clear and usually calm, sheltered by the geography of the bay. Watersports — jet skis, windsurfing, kitesurfing — operate from the beach, and there are windsurfing schools if you want to learn.

The beach is cleaned every morning in season. Facilities are excellent along the northern stretch: showers, changing rooms, lifeguards in summer, beach bars serving cold drinks and food. If you want a full day on the beach with minimal fuss, Playa de Alcudia provides it reliably.
