Bay of Fornells

One of the finest sheltered bays in the Balearics. The combination of steady northwest winds and protected flat water makes it a reliable windsurfing and sailing venue from spring through early autumn. Kayaks and paddleboards can be rented in the village for exploring the quieter northern reaches of the bay.

A story
The Bay of Fornells stretches nearly 6 kilometres inland from the sea, almost completely enclosed — which is why the water sits so flat and the winds stay consistent. King Juan Carlos I used to moor his yacht here in summer, and the village still has an unhurried, slightly exclusive feel that hasn't entirely disappeared with the tourist crowds. Windsurfing schools line the western shore; the best breezes typically arrive by late morning.
