The house where Christopher Columbus supposedly lodged in 1492 before sailing west has been turned into a museum dedicated to the era of Atlantic exploration. The building itself — a 15th-century mansion with carved wooden balconies around a courtyard — is the main attraction. Inside, there are maps, navigational instruments, and exhibits on the Canaries' role as the last stop before the New World. Address: Calle Colón 1, Vegueta.

A story
Columbus stopped here in 1492 to repair the Pinta's rudder before continuing west. He may never have reached America if Las Palmas had not had the tools and craftsmen to fix his ship.
