The best collection of pre-Hispanic Guanche artefacts on the island. The Guanche were the original Berber-descended inhabitants of Gran Canaria, and this museum — founded in 1879 and still in its original Vegueta building — holds their skulls, pottery, wooden tools, and mummified remains. The mummy room is genuinely remarkable: dozens of preserved bodies arranged as they were found in the island's cave burial sites. Address: Calle Doctor Verneau 2.
