Playa de Las Canteras

Three-kilometre city beach with a natural reef breakwater

Three kilometres of Atlantic beach running along the city's western shore, backed by a promenade of restaurants, bars, and surf shops rather than the hotel towers you find in the southern resorts. The La Barra reef offshore creates a natural breakwater that keeps most of the beach in calm, swimmable water even on windier days. Locals use it year-round for swimming, jogging, and evening walks. The southern end near La Puntilla is rockier and better for snorkelling.
