San Sebastián de La Gomera is compact enough to explore on foot in a single morning, but the three sites connected to Columbus and the town's founding make it genuinely worthwhile. The Torre del Conde dominates the waterfront; the Casa de Colón tells the Columbus story well; and the Iglesia de la Asunción is where the admiral is said to have prayed before his first departure. El Pozo de la Aguada, the colonial well from which Columbus drew fresh water, is a short walk from the plaza.
