Rancho Texas is a small Western-themed zoo and waterpark on the hillside above Puerto del Carmen, a few minutes' drive (or a short courtesy-bus ride) from the resort. The animal collection focuses on big cats — tigers, white tigers, lions — and includes parrots, alligators, kangaroos and a sea lion show, with two daily birds-of-prey demonstrations that are the most engaging part of the visit.
The waterpark section, included in the entry ticket, has a couple of slides, a wave pool and a children's splash area; it is more of a bonus than a destination in its own right. The pony-and-camel rides are popular with younger children. Reckon on a half-day visit; the on-site Tex-Mex restaurant is adequate but you may prefer to bring a picnic. Open daily from 9.30am.
