Belmaco Archaeological Park

Cave-set archaeological park preserving La Palma's Benahoarite rock carvings and pre-Hispanic remains.

Belmaco Archaeological Park is one of La Palma's clearest introductions to the island before the Spanish conquest. The site centres on caves and rock engravings associated with the Benahoarites, the Indigenous people of La Palma, and it gives a more grounded counterpoint to the island's volcanic scenery and observatories.

It is a compact visit, but a worthwhile one if you are trying to understand La Palma rather than just drive its viewpoints. The small interpretation centre helps explain the petroglyphs and cave setting, and the ravine landscape around the site makes the archaeology feel tied to the island rather than boxed away in a museum.
