Tarragona's early Christian necropolis was used from the 3rd to the 5th century, when Roman Tarraco was becoming a Christian city. The museum displays sarcophagi, inscriptions, epitaphs, and funerary objects, giving a quieter counterpoint to the amphitheatre, circus, and walls elsewhere in town.
