A relatively recent excavation (the site was uncovered in 1919 and most of the work was done from the 1970s onwards) revealing the curved seating, orchestra, and scaena of an early-imperial Roman theatre. Less spectacular than the amphitheatre but more intimate — the cavea seated around 5,000 spectators, and the surviving back wall of the stage (the scaenae frons) still carries traces of its original marble cladding.
The site is being progressively excavated and restored; some sections are visible only from the surrounding streets. Combine with the Colonial Forum nearby — both sit at the base of the old town near the marina.
